Bible Translation

Members of Kolo Group serve as Advisory Board members for various ministry initiatives based in Jos, Nigeria.  A current focus is on facilitating the translation of the Bible into languages of Nigeria by helping mother-tongue translation teams access and leverage the power of Computational Linguistics.  Global Bible Initiative (GBI)’s CLEAR engine leverages work from the fields of Computation Linguistics and Biblical Scholarship to provide state-of-the-art tools for Bible translation teams. During 2019, Kolo Group will assist teams on pilot projects to provide feedback to the CLEAR researchers in GBI’s ColLab division.    https://www.globalbibleinitiative.org

  • The translation of the New Testament into the Izere language was completed and published in 2006. An Old Testament translation initiative is now being organized.
  • The translation of the New Testament into the Ibaas language was completed in 2018 and is preparing to be published.   The translation team has now begun translation of the Old Testament.
  • The translation of the New Testament into the Gbari language is nearing completion.

Kolo Group’s primary role is to provide logistics and communication support between Nigeria and the US through its affiliation with CREI Nigeria.

Recycle for Missions

Recycle for Missions, working with USA churches and denominations, will collect unused electronic devices.  These devices will be turned over to companies that refurbish and recycle the devices and pays for the devices.  After costs, 50% of the funds go to the local church and 50% for global mission needs managed by Kolo Group.

Facts

  • International gospel workers need resources to be used in the field to present the gospel.
  • New ways need to be developed to reach Unreached People Groups.
  • The USA EPA estimates just 10 percent of all cell phones are recycled.
  • By using this method, another non-profit raised in 2015 $2 million income from recycling through businesses that had collection boxes.

This is a pioneering project to see if we can find a new source for resources for global missions and also helping the local churches be green.

Kolo’s mobile apps we accomplished our goals and have turned over much of the concepts to other mobile apps.  We recommend using the Jesus Film mobile app which has incorporated some of Kolo’s pioneering mobile concepts into their app.

Kolo Africa and Kolo World Apps

The Kolo Africa and Kolo World mobile apps for Android and iOS pioneered many concepts which were adapted into other Great Commission apps, allowing both oral and literate people of the world to find their heart languages and listen to or view available audio Bibles, JESUS Films, and related content. Download the latest Jesus Film Project mobile apps from Android and iOS stores.

Kolo Africa App v1.0 -- Dec. 2012

Through the Kolo Group’s Africa App both reached and unreached people across the African continent are able to hear and interact with the Gospel message in their own heart language.

Introduction

How will they hear? There are over 500 languages in Nigeria alone, only 130 of which offer translations of Gospel materials. Across the rest of Africa, millions of indigenous people speak languages in which there are no scriptures or Gospel media available. Where resources such as the Bible or Jesus film do exist, there is no easy way to access them… until now.

Choose a Language
Starting with the challenge of identifying the seeker’s heart language, the Kolo Africa App provides access to the Gospel through audio, video, and text. For most people, these will be the only heart language media files available, and Kolo expects millions of Africans will watch, listen, and share the joy of God speaking directly to their heart.

Find a Resource

The Kolo Africa App makes the entire JESUS Film video library and the Faith Comes By Hearing audio Bible repository available via the internet cloud. This is possible through our partnerships with:

  • Campus Crusade
  • Faith Comes By Hearing
  • JESUS Film Media
  • …a number of African organizations

These gentlemen are watching the JESUS Film on their internet devices for the first time.  This is their reaction to the incredible potential for sharing the Gospel in new and powerful ways through this technology.

We saw incredible things happen in our country….
